Traffic deaths in the first seventh months of 2013 rose by 4.86 percentyear-on-year, according to statistics released by the National Committeefor Traffic Safety.
During the period there were more than6,400 traffic accidents, killing 5,635 people and seriously injuringanother 3,900.
The committee said that in contrast to the rise in fatalities, the number of accidents declined by 6.82 percent.
The Railway and Road Police Department recorded 624 traffic accidentsin the firth half of August, resulting in 244 deaths and 364 injuries.
Of the total, road accidents claimed the most lives (242deaths and 356 injuries), followed by rail accidents (two deaths andeight injuries).-VNA
