Truong Sa archipelago celebrates liberation day

A ceremony marking the 35th anniversary of the liberation of the Truong Sa archipelago was held in Song Tu Tay commune, in Truong Sa island district, on April 27.
A ceremony marking the 35th anniversaryof the liberation of the Truong Sa archipelago was held in Song Tu Taycommune, in Truong Sa island district, on April 27.

The ceremony was jointly held by the People’s Committee of the centralcoastal province of Khanh Hoa and the Navy.

The commemoration recalled how the Navy deployed its fleet to fightagainst troops of the US-backed Saigon regime stationed on the islandsof Truong Sa archipelago, including Song Tu Tay, Son Ca, Nam Yet andSinh Ton, resulting in the complete liberation of the Truong Saarchipelago on April 29, 1975.

The State has conferred many awards and distinctions on the local peopleand the armed forces of Truong Sa district for their achievementsduring the course of the defence, construction, and development of theirlocality.

Today, both the military and the locals of Truong Sa district areenthusiastically taking part in search and rescue activities at sea,making the locality a safe destination for fishermen and their boatswhen plying the country’s sovereign sea waters./.
