HCM City (VNA) – The investigation agency of Ho Chi Minh City public security force on June 15 issued decisions on bringing prosecution against and detaining two men for disturbing social order.
One of the men is Nguyen William Anh, born 1985 and a US citizen, who stayed at Ward 5, District 3.
According to police’s investigation and Nguyen William Anh’s statement, Nguyen William Anh entered Vietnam on June 9 as a tourist.
On June 10, Nguyen William Anh joined the crowd in causing disorder on the Nguyen Van Troi-Nam Ky Khoi Nghia street. At the Nam Ky Khoi Nghia-Ly Chinh Thang intersection in District 3, Nguyen William Anh directly asked authorised forces to remove specialised vehicles for the crowd to pass. When his request was not met, Nguyen William Anh climbed on to a specialised vehicle and called on the crowd to cross through.
His acts were recorded in video by the authorised forces, which was evidence for his disturbance of social order. The city police issued arrest warrants in emergency on June 12 and 14 for Nguyen William Anh, followed by decisions on temporary custody and first-time extension of temporary custody of him.
After consolidating files and evidence, on June 15, the municipal police issued decisions on prosecution against and temporary detention of Nguyen William Anh for disturbing social order.
The other man prosecuted and detained is Truong Huu Loc, born 1961 and residing in Tan Binh district. According to the investigation agency, Loc regularly livestreamed on his Facebook account to call on people to stage demonstrations. Loc directly incited people to gather and cause disorders in recent days.
