Two Vietnamese passengers and the Thai driver were killed when their car hit the back of a lorry early at dawn on May 5 in Rayong province, more than 140km to the southeast of Bangkok, Thailand.

The car was carrying 15 Vietnamese labourers, mostly from Vietnam’s central Ha Tinh province, who were on the way to Chanthaburi province to extend their visas.

Two dead Vietnamese were identified as Phan Cong Dung, 47 and Nguyen Xuan Quoc, 27. Three other Vietnamese people were seriously injured and are being treated at Wang Chan Hospital.

The family of Dung brought his body back to Vietnam during the day, while Quoc’s relatives are waiting to complete procedures to repatriate.

Last month, one Vietnamese labourer also died in a traffic accident on the way to extend the visa.-VNA
