UN Security Council President Le Luong Minh on Oct. 28 condemned Taliban’s terrorist attacks on a guesthouse in the Afghan capital city of Kabul earlier in the day which killed five UN staff and a local security worker.

In a statement made in his capacity as the council’s president, Minh, who is also Vietnamese representative to the council, presented condolences to the victims’ families, the UN Secretary General and staff and the Afghan government and people.

Considering the attack a disruption of the electoral process and stability in Afghanistan, the UNSC underlined the need for an early investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice, and urged all states to cooperate actively with the Afghan authorities in this regard.

The statement said that that no terrorist act can reserve the process of peace, democracy and reconstruction in Afghanistan, which is supported by the Afghan people and Government and the international community.

According to the statement, the fight against terrorism should be conducted in compliance with the UN Charter and in conformity with international humanitarian and human right laws./.
