All 12 sites for the eight sports included in the third Asian Indoor Games (AIG) to be held in Ho Chi Minh City in October, will be ready for use by the end of September.

The upgrading and repairing of these sporting venues, which will be used during the competition and for the athletes training sessions will be fully completed on time, the AIG organising board announced at a press conference on August 24.

This month, six works will be completed including the Lanh Binh Thang, Tan Binh, Van Don, Phan Dinh Phung and Military Zone 7 gymnasiums plus the Nguyen Du club. They will be the venues for the men’s basketball, women’s futsal, kick boxing, billiards & snooker, vovinam and lion dancing competitions.

HCM City University of Physical Education and Sports gymnasium and the Phu Tho sports training centre will serve the women’s basketball competition and the futsal and Muay categories. The upgrading work at these venues will also be completed by the beginning of September.

Phan Dang Luu and Phu Tho gymnasiums will also be finished and serve kick boxing training and the men’s futsal competition.

The Rach Mieu gymnasium, where the Muay competition will be held, finished its upgrading work in July.

Other preparations have also been launched such as the issuing of the “AIG III Guide Book’ and fire prevention training.

39 countries and territories have so far registered to participate in the event with a total of 1,449 athletes, said the organising board./.
