US cruise tourist gets timely hospitalisation

Khanh Hoa (VNA) – Vietnamese search and rescuevessel SAR27-01 arrived at Nha Trang port, the central province of Khanh Hoa,on January 28, bringing a US cruise tourist ashore for medical treatment.

Nguyen Xuan Binh, Director of the Coordination Centre forMaritime Search and Rescue, Zone 4, said at 7am the same day, the centre wasinformed that Haddock Richard Ray suffered acute ileus on the Bahamas-flagged SeabournOvation cruiser, which was about 78 nautical miles to the north of Nha Trangwaters.

He showed symptoms of swollen bowel, being unable to moveand continuous vomiting.

The centre contacted the vessel to provide consultation.

As his illness could lead to death, the centre deployedSAR27-01 to the spot and brought him to a hospital in Nha Trang.-VNA
