A performance by Melanine Moore, winner of the US's So You Think You Can Dance show in 2011, will open the final round of the Vietnamese version of the competition this weekend.

Two other former contestants from the US, Marko Germar (8th season, 2011) and Alex Wong (7th season, 2010) as well as the show's producer, Jeff Thacker, will also join the event, which is to be aired on the HCM City Television (HTV)'s HTV7 channel on October 13.

The competition's final round will have 20 finalists, including 10 male and 10 female dancers, who will perform solo or in pairs, items in several genres like ballroom, ballet, contemporary, Broadway, jazz, salsa, jive and hip-hop.

The judges and the audience's votes will decide those who will be eliminated during eight performance shows and eight result shows, and two male and two female competitors will enter the last round.

The contestants will pair off and fight over eight rounds, each of which will see the elimination of a male and female dancer each.

The winner of the first edition of the contest in Vietnam will receive the prize money of 400 million VND (19,000 USD).

All the shows and the awards ceremony will be broadcast live on HTV7 every Saturday and Sunday until December 15.

The competition, organised by HTV and the Dong Tay Promotion Company, has attracted the participation of thousands of Vietnamese dancers, professionals and amateurs, from 16 to 30 years of age.-VNA
