US Secretary of State John Kerry told reporters on the sidelines ofthe 8th East Asia Summit in Brunei that a Code of Conduct in theEast Sea (COC) is a necessity for the long term.
He addedthat all sides claiming territory in these waters have a responsibilityto align their claims with international law.
Meanwhile,Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said he looks forward to the earlyconclusion of a Code of Conduct which is legally binding and stressedthat the sea should be ruled by law and not by force.-VNA
