President of the Vietnam-US Association Nguyen Tam Chien welcomed theUS left-wing activist Rennie Davis in Hanoi on January 14.
The visit is expected to further strengthen the friendship between thetwo peoples and reinforce the Vietnam-US ties, especially as the twocountries mark the 20th anniversary of the normalisation of theirrelations, Chien said.
He briefed the guests on thesocio-economic achievements in Vietnam as well as the country’sefforts in addressing war consequences.
Rennie Davissaid his visit aims to carry out several people-to-people exchanges andgather information to serve humanitarian campaigns to raise aid forVietnam in surmounting the consequences of bombs and mines and AgentOrange/dioxin contamination.-VNA
