USAID assists Vietnamese businesses to reduce greenhouse gas emission

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in coordination with the Enterprise Development Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, organised a training workshop in Ho Chi Minh City on June 29, aiming to provide information relating to greenhouse gas reduction as well as offering solutions to businesses.

HCM City (VNA) - TheUnited States Agency for International Development (USAID), in coordination withthe Enterprise Development Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment,organised a training workshop in Ho Chi Minh City on June 29, aiming to provide informationrelating to greenhouse gas reduction as well as offering solutions to businesses.

The session is partof the project “Improving Private Sector Competitiveness”, with a budget of 36 million USD funded by USAID.

The five-year project, which started in 2021, focuses onbuilding business management capacity and strategies for small and growingbusinesses (SGBs); improving productivity and trading performance via promotinginnovation and application of technologies; improving business environment tocreate favourable conditions for enterprises and overall economic growth; andstrengthening business-to-business and interagency linkages.

It aims at providing technical and financial assistanceto 5,000 SGBs to improve their performance; supporting 240 SGBs to successfullyparticipate in domestic, regional and international markets; and offering overallor special support packages to 60 pioneer businesses to create products withadded value./.

Wildlife poachers arrested in Tay Ninh's national park

The poacher, Tran Van Binh, 57 years old, residing in Tan Nam hamlet, Tan Binh commune, Tan Bien district, was found with a homemade gun and three poached animals including two cheo cheo (Chevrotain) classified in group IIB of endangered, rare wildlife as per Decree 84/2021/ND-CP and a hawk (Pandion haliaetus).

Rare animals released back into the wild

The released animals include one Hatinh langur (Trachypithecus hatinhensis), two Keeled box turtles (Cuora mouhotii), two Impressed tortoises (Manouria impressa), three Pygmy slow lorises (Nycticebus pygmaeus), one Big-headed turtle (Platysternon megacephalum), four Bourret’s box turtles (Cuora bourreti), and one Bengal monitor lizard (Varanus bengalensis).

Two new lizard species discovered in Vietnam

The discovery of these two new lizard species provides further evidence of Vietnam’s exceptional biodiversity, particularly in the Sop Cop Nature Reserve in Son La province, and the south-central coastal region. This also highlights Vietnam’s critical role as a global biodiversity hotspot for reptiles and amphibians in the Indochinese region.

Cycling inspires greener Ho Chi Minh City

Hosted by the Dutch Consulate General in coordination with the Vietnam-Netherlands Friendship Association and the Dutch Business Association in Vietnam, the February 16 event welcomed two Dutch cyclists who traveled nearly 20,000 kilometers across 24 countries to Vietnam.
