Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) and the Embassy of Argentina in Vietnam have agreed to strengthen academic collaboration and cultural exchanges to further deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the two nations.

During a meeting in Hanoi on October 22 with Argentine Ambassador to Vietnam Marcos Antonio Bednarski, Professor Dr Le Van Loi, VASS President, emphasised that Vietnam and Argentina enjoy increasingly thriving traditional friendship despite the geographical distance. He reaffirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to expanding relations with Latin American countries, including Argentina.

The VASS President proposed that the Argentine Embassy help link the academy with Argentine research institutes and universities to enhance cooperation in social sciences, culture, governance, non-traditional security, trade and the business environment. He said that expanded research ties would deepen mutual understanding and strengthen bilateral friendship. Loi designated the Institute for European and American Studies (IEAS) under the VASS as the focal point for collaboration.

The two sides agreed to jointly organise their first academic symposium in December 2025, co-hosted by the IEAS and the Argentine Embassy. The event will serve as a platform to discuss foreign policy, economic orientation and other topics of shared interest. Loi suggested that the symposium become an annual activity to consolidate Vietnam–Argentina academic cooperation.

Both sides also agreed to enhance cultural exchanges and participation in each other’s events to deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the Vietnamese and Argentine people.

For his part, Ambassador Marcos Antonio Bednarski commended the VASS’s role in research, policy consultation and international cooperation, affirming that Vietnam is an important partner of Argentina in the Asia–Pacific region. He expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation in research, culture and education will continue to grow, affirming the embassy’s support in promoting academic exchanges and joint programmes with Vietnam./.
