A booth of Nhan dan (People) newspaper, the daily of the Communist Party of Vietnam, opened on September 14 at La Courneuve park, 30km north of Paris, as part of the 2012 L’Humanite newspaper festival, an annual event of communists from around the world.

The booth, which is to stand in the festival for three days, will work to promote Vietnamese culture to the world and bring Vietnamese living in France closer in such activities like the festival.

Addressing the event, Pham Ba Thinh, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Nhan Dan daily, stressed the unceasing consolidation and development of friendship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the French Communist Party (FCP) and people of Vietnam and France.

In the current complex situation, a sustainable peace is needed and its value must be protected and preserved by all nations in the world, Thinh said.

For Vietnamese Ambassador to France Duong Chi Dung, the festival held by the FCP is a platform for activists in socio-politic affairs, artists, friends and people from all over the world to meet and discuss issues toward a world of peace, solidarity and sustainable development.

The event is extremely significant when Vietnam and France are going to mark the 40 th anniversary of the signing of the Paris Agreement and their 40-year-old diplomatic ties and are working towards strategic partnership, the diplomat noted.

Jacque Fath, Head of the FCP’s External Relations Commission, highlighted the friendship between the two Communist parties and both peoples, saying it had stood the test of time of the struggle against colonialism in particular and the common fight for peace in general.

He expressed his belief that that friendship would continue to be further developed in the interests of both peoples and communists in the two countries.

On the occasion, the insignia “For the cause of the Nhan dan daily” was presented to Helene Luc, Chairperson of the France-Vietnam Friendship Association, Therese Nguyen Van Ky, Chairperson of the Vietnamese community association in France and others for their contributions to the development of the newspaper and the France-Vietnam relations.-VNA
