A high-level military delegation from the Vietnam People's Army embarked on an official visit to Australia at the invitation of the Chief of the Royal Australian Defence Force, Mark Binskin.
The visit from November 8-12, led by Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army and Deputy Defence Minister, Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty, aims to strengthen the friendly relations and defence cooperation between Vietnam and Australia.
The two sides will discuss their respective country’s national defence contexts, regional issues of shared concern and measures to effectively implement cooperation within the framework of the "Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation" signed in 2010 in the line with the Vietnam-Australia comprehensive partnership.
The promotion of bilateral defence ties between the two countries looks to contribute to the maintenance of peace, stability and development in the region.-VNA
