Vietnam-Cambodia youth exchange promotes traditional friendship

Tay Ninh (VNA) – Nearly 200 young journalists and students fromVietnamese and Cambodian border localities gathered at an exchange in theMekong Delta province of Tay Ninh on November 5.

The event was held by the Ministry of Information and Communications and theVietnam Youth Federation (VYF) in collaboration with the Cambodian Ministry ofEducation, Youth and Sports as part of activities to celebrate the 52nd anniversary of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties, as well as promoting thepreservation and consolidation of the traditional friendship between the twonations.

Addressing the opening ceremony, VYF Vice Chairman Nguyen Hai Ninh reiteratedthe long-standing friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia, saying they havestood shoulder-to-shoulder in their struggle for national liberation in thepast as well as socio-economic development at present.

The four-day exchange is being held to enhance solidarity and friendshipbetween youths from both nations, while creating opportunities for them toshare journalism experience, mutual understanding and cooperation, he added.

Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Ngocsaid that the event is expected to deepen the traditional solidarity,friendship and cooperation between the two countries in general and youngpeople in particular, contributing to sustainability and prosperity in theregion.

Various activities are scheduled at the exchange, including a tree plantingevent in Tay Ninh city, the inauguration of a children’s playground in BinhMinh commune and trips to several tourism sites in Tay Nin province and Ho ChiMinh City./.
