Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh held talks with ViceChairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party ofChina, Senior Lieutenant-General Guo Boxiong after a welcoming ceremonyin Hanoi on April 13.
The two sides exchanged viewpoints onrelations between the two countries and the two armed forces as well asissues of mutual concern.
They agreed that SeniorLieutenant-General Guo Boxiong’s visit to Vietnam would besuccessful and enhance ties between the two armies and two countries.
Theyexpressed their pleasure at the fine development of Vietnam-Chinarelations as well as firm developments of military ties.
They held that the traditional friendship between the two countriesfounded by late Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong is a treasure ofboth countries.
The two sides agreed that consolidating anddeveloping the strategic comprehensive cooperation partnership is theunchanged motto of the two Parties and States and the Vietnam andChina ’s armed forces will further strengthen exchanges andcooperation, contributing to speeding up Vietnam-China relations, forpeace and stability in the region.
They agreed to increasehigh-ranking visits between the two armies, exchange strategies andshare experience in building and managing the armed forces.
The two sides will also continue to cooperate in providing training andthe exchange of military students and agreed to deal with differencesvia dialogues.
The two armies are the active force toprotect security and the benefits of both countries, as well as regionalpeace and development, they said.
On the occasion, the two sides signed a training cooperation agreement between the two Defence Ministries for 2011.
Thesame day, Senior Lieutenant-General Guo Boxiong and his entourage laid awreath and paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum./.
