Vietnam, Colombia share experience in COVID-19 pandemic control

Buenos Aires(VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela and Colombia held a webinar on sharingexperience in controlling the COVID-19 pandemic and measures for the economic recoveryof Vietnam and Colombia on December 15.

Addressing the event, Vietnamese Chargé d'Affaires Van CongThang affirmed that the relationship between Vietnam and Colombia has achievedmany achievements in politics, diplomacy, culture and society after 42 years ofestablishing diplomatic relations.

Given the complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic,Vietnam is ready to exchange experience with Colombia in response to pandemiccontrol as well as post-pandemic economic recovery measures, he said.

According to the Vietnamese diplomat, the pandemic has been basicallycontrolled in Vietnam, but still must continue to implement the 5K message,speed up vaccination, raise people's awareness and other necessary measures. Vietnam is gradually implementing safe, flexible adaptation andeffective control of the COVID-19 pandemic and is becoming an attractivedestination for trade, investment and tourism activities in the region and theworld.

Regarding economic recovery measures, Thang saidthat the Vietnamese Government has set forth short-term solutions related to COVID-19 prevention, ensuring social security, and supporting businesses.He also underlined the Government’s goal of controlling inflation and stabilisingthe country’s macroeconomy in the long term.  

For her part, Vice chairwoman of the Colombia - Vietnam Chamber of Commerce (CCV) Nohora Pardo said that Colombia has built a vaccinationnetwork to deploy a nationwide vaccination programme. Colombia has so far injected60.8 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

As many as 26.24 million people havereceived two shots, accounting for 51.6 percent of the population. The Colombiangovernment also allows private companies and organisations to import vaccinesand vaccinate their employees.

She emphasised that after reaching vaccine coverage of over50 percent of the population, Colombia has revived the economy by adoptingmeasures to support businesses and people through the National EmergencyMitigation Fund with preferential credit package and employment support programme.

Also at the event, Vice President, CEO of the Sao Thai Duong Joint Stock Company, NguyenThi Huong Lien introduced the company’s Kovir capsule in supporting the treatmentfor COVID-19 infected patients which help reduce symptoms and shorten the treatmentperiod. She also wishes to strengthen medical cooperation to carry outpromotional activities for Kovir in the Colombian market./.
