Multiple Vietnam-themed activities were held during the Vietnam Day in Venice, Italy on April 23, attracting a great number of local people.
The event was jointly organised by the Vietnamese Embassy in Italy, the Ca’Foscari University of Venice, and the Italy-Vietnam Friendship Association.
The day featured workshops on investment opportunities in the Southeast Asian country, education and training, culture, and cultural relations between the two nations.
It also gave visitors an insight into Vietnamese cuisine and cinematography in the past decade through films directed by Luu Trong Ninh, Bui Thac Chuyen and Nguyen Huu Muoi.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Nguyen Hoang Long provided an overview of the land, people, economy and culture of Vietnam along with its education policies.
He expressed hope for further educational collaboration between Vietnam and the Ca’Foscari University in particular and Italian universities in general, especially in scientific research and student exchanges.
The Venice-based university has offered a faculty of Vietnamese language and culture since February 2012.
At present, there are some 500 Vietnamese students in Italy , and the figure is expected to reach 1,000 in the next few years.-VNA
