Digital convergence and communications convergence have been studied seriously in Vietnam as it will enable the country to catch up with the development trend in the world, said the General Director of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

VNA General Director Tran Mai Huong was speaking at the Vietnam-Republic of Korea Communications Convergence Forum and Exhibition in Hanoi on May 12.

“In the current digital era, technology plays an extremely important role,” the VNA chief said, affirming, “the event is very significant for the VNA and other media agencies to get to know about advanced technologies through which their articles will come to users in the future.”

He stressed that the exhibition offered a good chance for Vietnamese and RoK technological companies to seek ways to tap advantages of communications convergence technology.

The VNA helped cover information about the forum and exhibition, which was hosted by Korea Communications Commission (KCC) and organised by Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA).

The exhibition displayed the latest communications technologies brought by a large number of RoK leading companies, entailing Samsung Broadband, LS Cable, LG Nortel, DMBro, CJ Hello Vision, LIG Nekseuwon A & D Engineering, SK C& C, and KT.

The event was attended by Le Xuan Lan, head of the Information and Communications Technology Strategy Institute and Le Vu Hai, chief of the e-Information, Broadcasting and Television Department of the Ministry of Information and Communications, among others./.
