A northern mountainous market will be reproduced with the direct participation of ethnic groups during the 2013 Vietnam Ethnic Groups Cultural Day from April 19 to 21, said the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on April 4.
The market is part of the cultural day activities, which will be organised at the Vietnamese Ethnic Groups Culture and Tourism Village in Dong Mo tourism area of Son Tay town, Hanoi .
Other activities include a workshop on ethnic youths and traditional values of Vietnamese families; a special art programme; cultural exchanges, folk games and specific festivals of ethnic groups.
During the cultural day, each ethnic group will present their distinctive cuisine, cultural features and traditional products.
The event will be attended by village elders and ethnic artisans from Ha Giang, Son La, Lang Son, Bac Giang, Hoa Binh and Bac Kan provinces; representatives of youths and students from all 54 ethnic groups; and central and local art troupes.
According to Ho Anh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism cum head of the tourism village’s managing board, the event aims to raise awareness of ethnic youths to preserve and uphold the nation’s traditional cultural values, consolidate solidarity among Vietnamese ethnic groups and popularise images of the country and people.-VNA
