The Vietnam Green Building Week 2023, which highlights the construction industry’s green transition, will be held in various locations across the country, with its key activities scheduled for September 27 and 28 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The Ministry of Construction’s annual event is expected to attract approximately 1,000 participants joining its workshops and expos in the southern metropolis.

With a plenary session and four specialised seminars, the programme serves as an opportunity for policymakers, consulting firms, banks, governmental agencies, and international organisations to get involved to discuss ways to promote the green transition.

The content will focus on several key issues, including the development of green factories, offices and buildings aimed at improving the quality of living and work spaces. It will also showcase the trends of using energy-saving and environmentally friendly materials, and the application of advanced equipment and technology for modern, eco-friendly, and user-friendly construction projects. The discussions will also revolve around green finance and green credit as drivers for sustainable development.

Participants are also to be treated to an exhibition, which will bring together numerous technology and equipment suppliers. The event also gathers construction material manufacturers of energy-saving and environmentally friendly construction like Panasonic, Daikin, Sika, Saint Gobain, and Capital House, among many others.

On the sidelines, there will be policy discussions to promote green building development, in-depth seminars and training courses, field trips, and journalism awards for outstanding articles on green building, and a green architecture competition for students.

Vietnam Green Building Week 2023 is an annual event held by the Ministry of Construction, in response to the World Green Building Week.

According to the Ministry of Construction, in the context that the world is suffering from the impact of climate change, resource depletion, population growth and urbanisation pressure, countries around the world, including Vietnam, all want green, sustainable and low-emission development.

As part of the efforts to decrease greenhouse gas emissions, Vietnam has issued a wide range of policies and programmes, such as the Politburo’s Decision No.55-NQ/TW, on a national energy development strategy, effective use of energy, and a strategy on building material development to 2050.

In step with the world's green transition trend after the COP26 Conference, many businesses and investors in the construction sector have plans for green development, low emissions, and carbon neutrality as the target committed by the Government.

However, to achieve the above goal, the Ministry of Construction said that Vietnam still has challenges, requiring effective action from all relevant stakeholders./.
