Vietnam News Agency, PetroVietnam sign agreement

The State-run Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) signed a cooperation agreement in Hanoi on May 23.

Hanoi (VNA) – The State-run Vietnam News Agency (VNA)and Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) signed a cooperationagreement in Hanoi on May 23.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, VNA General DirectorNguyen Duc Loi lauded PetroVietnam as one of the pillar groups of theVietnamese economy, contributing to the State budget and ensuring nationalenergy security.

PetroVietnam also makes important contributions to maintainingnational defence-security and safeguarding sea and island sovereignty, he said.

The VNA General Director said as a supplier of source news,VNA is providing accurate, objective, reliable and latest news to domestic andforeign press outlets.

He said VNA also provides important publications such asreference news and special reference news for agencies, adding that VNA is now astrong national news agency in Southeast Asia and is striving to become amultimedia corporation with various news forms.

On the occasion, he asked PetroVietnam to actively provideVNA with official and latest news, especially those regarding sensitive issuesso that the outlet could disseminate, orient public opinions and rejectwrongful information.

PetroVietnam Chairman Tran Sy Thanh said PetroVietnam alwaysreceives support from press agencies, especially VNA – a national press agencywith prestige at home and abroad and a contingent of reporters across 63 citiesand provinces nationwide and 30 bureaus abroad.

He said PetroVietnam workers are drilling oil day and nightat sea and fulfilling the noble task of affirming national sovereignty. Despiterecent difficulties, it remains one of the corporations that contribute most tothe State budget and economic growth.

Thanh added that partnership with VNA will strengthen publictrust in State-owned enterprises, contributing to improving informationtransparency and public supervision on businesses, as well as popularising theimage and stature of PetroVietnam for national development.-VNA

Tien Giang steps up efforts to eliminate substandard houses

According to the Tien Giang People’s Committee, 485 homes for policy beneficiaries, families of war martyrs, and low-income households will be supported. Of these, 284 new homes will be built, and 201 existing ones repaired, with a total budget of 24.1 billion VND (about 984,000 USD). As of March 6, construction had started on 166 houses, with 32 already completed.

Bac Giang to eliminate substandard houses by November

Local authorities have identified 795 homes of poor and near-poor households and individuals with recognised service to the nation that qualify for support. Of these, 475 require complete reconstruction and 320 need significant repairs, with estimated costs totaling 39 billion VND (1.53 million USD).

Vietnamese, Chinese cities to build smart border gate pair

They also consented to promote the development of a cross-border economic cooperation zone through sectoral cooperation at Hai Yen industrial park, Van Ninh international port in Mong Cai; a cross-border e-commerce industrial park; and transport connectivity projects between the two cities including the international railway line from Mong Cai to Dongxing, Bac Luan III bridge, and an auxiliary rough steel bridge.

Fisherman receives emergency care at Song Tu Tay infirmary

A fisherman from central Quang Ngai province was given emergency treatment for severe respiratory distress at the Song Tu Tay island infirmary in the island district of Truong Sa, the south central coastal province of Khanh Hoa on March 11, after falling ill while fishing at sea.
