The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Relations recently signed an agreement to establish the Vietnam-Peru Inter-Governmental Committee on economic issues and technological cooperation.
The agreement marks a step toward the establishment of legal frameworks and mechanisms for bilateral cooperation in economics, trade, agriculture and technology.
A delegation from the MoIT held working sessions with officials from several ministries and agencies of Peru on the occasion.
The Vietnamese side expressed interest in exporting agricultural products—including rice, mangos, dragonfruits, longans and lychees—to Peru.
Meanwhile, the South American country is looking into agreements on vegetative quarantine towards shipping citrus fruits, blueberries, avocados and grapes to Vietnam.
In 2014, Vietnam’s export turnover to Peru reached 186.9 million USD, up 69.2 percent compared to the previous year.-VNA
