Contemporary paintings of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) are on display at Han Hyang-lim Ceramics Museum in the RoK’s city of Paju.
The exhibition, which opened on May 11, is organised by the RoK Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Paju municipal authorities and the Vietnamese Embassy in the RoK.
“Through this exhibition, we hope to bring visitors the latest fruits of cultural and artistic creativity of Vietnam and the Republic of Korea . It also offers a chance for the two countries’ artists to meet and forge ties for further bilateral cooperation in the future”, said the museum’s director.
Governor of Paju Lee In-jae expressed his belief that the event, the first of its kind held in the city, will open up new and diverse cultural and art exchanges between the two nations in the time to come.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Tran Trong Toan highly valued the organisation of the exhibition in the context that the two countries have successfully organised the 2012 Vietnam-RoK Friendship Year and the 20 th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties, saying that the event will contribute to further strengthening mutual understanding on culture and art as well as boosting friendship and cooperation between the two peoples.
The exhibition will open to visitors through May 26. Then, all the paintings of Vietnamese artists will be presented to the Asian Culture Complex, which is being built in the RoK’s central city of Gwangju.
On this occasion, the RoK-Vietnam Friendship Association also presented gifts to children of Vietnam-RoK multicultural families in Paju.-VNA
