A delegation from the Ministry of National Defence led by Deputy Minister Senior lieutenant-general Nguyen Huy Hieu is paying a week-long visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK) from Dec. 12-18.

By invitation of the RoK Defence Ministry and the Defence Acquisition Programme Administration (DAPA), the visit came at the time when the two countries are speeding up implementation of the agreements inked by the state leaders from both sides during a recent Vietnam visit by RoK President Lee Myung-bak.

During Lee’s visit to Vietnam in October this year, Vietnam and the RoK agreed to lift the two countries’ “comprehensive partnership in the 21 st century” to “strategic cooperative partnership.”

During the ongoing visit, Deputy Minister Hieu met with his RoK counterpart, Chang Soo-man and DAPA Director Byun Moo-kyun. He also led the delegation to visit the RoK infantry training school, Daewoo shipbuilding company and LIG Next 1 company./.
