National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu attended theevent.
Speaking at the event, head of the NA’s Committee forScience, Technology and Environment and head of the Vietnam – Russia FriendshipParliamentarians’ Group Phan Xuan Dung said the gathering is a chance to recallthe tradition of bilateral ties as well as the warm sentiments andcontributions of the Soviet Union in the past and Russia at present toward theVietnamese people.
He said Russia is now a comprehensive strategic partner ofVietnam and the ties between the two legislatures have kept growing over thepast years through maintaining sideline meetings, mutual consultation andsupport in issues of shared interest at regional and global inter-parliamentaryforums.
Via meetings, delegations of the two legislatures pledged torealise signed agreements towards further developing bilateral friendship andcoordination, as well as maintaining close liaison at regional and globalforums, he said.
Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Konstantin Vnukov expressedhis respect for the long-standing ties between the two countries.
He said Russia will celebrate the 75th anniversary of victory over fascism and the 70th anniversary ofVietnam – Russia diplomatic ties next year with practical activities.
The diplomat vowed to stand ready to support Vietnam inevery area, especially external work in the near future./.
