Vietnam seeks Russia's support in vaccine production technology transfer

Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son has proposed the Russian Government to support the acceleration of COVID-19 vaccine production technology transfer to Vietnam in a bid to ensure a stable and sustainable supply.

Moscow(VNA) – Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son has proposed theRussian Government to support the acceleration of COVID-19 vaccine productiontechnology transfer to Vietnam in a bid to ensure a stable and sustainablesupply.

During his meet with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko inMoscow on September 28, Son congratulated Russia on its great developmentachievements, affirming that Vietnam always attaches importance to its traditional friendship and comprehensive strategicpartnership with Russia.

The minister also took this occasion to thankthe Russian Government for its timely support to Vietnam in pandemicprevention, especially its supply of COVID-19 vaccine, and the recent transfer ofbiological products to the Southeast Asian country for the production of onemillion doses of vaccine.

For his part, Chernyshenko said Vietnam is areliable friend and partner of Russia. He expressed his delight at Vietnam'sachievements, especially in stabilising the macro-economy and pandemicresponse.

During the meeting, the two officials pledged toseek ways to deepen the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership.They underscored the importance of enhancing the cooperation mechanism of theIntergovernmental Committee on economic, scientific and technical cooperationas well as regular coordination between ministries and agencies to promote keyprojects, creating favourable conditions for Vietnam-Russia joint ventures aswell as enterprises from the two countries to pour capital in each country.

The two sides also highlighted the need to fullytap the potential of the Vietnam- Eurasian Economic Union free trade agreement,facilitating the export of products that can be supplemented in each country'smarket towards a healthy and balanced trade.

They agreed on the necessity to expand into newfields of cooperation that Vietnam has a strong demand while Russiahas advantages such as high-tech science and scientific research. 

The Russian Deputy PM agreed to considerincreasing scholarships for Vietnamese students at the request of the VietnameseFM.

Regarding issues related to Vietnamese people inRussia, Chernyshenko said that he would direct relevant Russian agencies tofacilitate the extension of residence for Vietnamese citizens whose visas have expiredand were unable to return home due to travel restrictions caused by thecoronavirus pandemic./.

Vietnam, China sign 32 cooperation documents

The documents include a cooperation plan between the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China (CPC) for the 2026–2030 period; a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the Organisation Commission of the CPV Central Committee and its Chinese counterpart; and a cooperation agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and the International Liaison Department of the CPC Central Committee.
