Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam considers Chile one of its most important partners in the Latin America region, said Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh at a meeting with Chilean Foreign Minister Roberto Ampuero Espinoza on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum on ASEAN in Hanoi on September 12.
Minh noted with pleasure the strong growth in the Vietnam-Chile comprehensive partnership over recent years, shown through the outcomes of high-level visits of the two countries’ leaders, including the recent visit to Chile by Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue in July.
For his part, the Chilean FM congratulated Vietnam for its successfully hosting of the WEF ASEAN 2018.
He affirmed that Chile wants to boost relations with Vietnam, as well as ASEAN member countries in general. He suggested that the two sides reinforce and promote progress in trade cooperation, while expanding investment collaboration between the two countries.
The two sides agreed to increase the exchange of high-level delegations; bolster economic, trade, and investment ties; while supporting small- and medium-sized enterprises in accessing each other’s market; and enhancing people-to-people exchanges.
They pledged to cooperate closely at multilateral forums, especially the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum, and in the process of approving and implementing the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).–VNA
