Vietnam and Singapore will continue joint anti-corruption efforts through training courses, seminars and high-level exchanges.
The consensus was reached by Government Inspector General Huynh Phong Tranh and Director of the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau of Singapore Wong Hong Kuan during their talks in Hanoi on July 21.
Tranh briefed his host on Vietnam’s counter-corruption achievements, including the approval of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, the promulgation of a national strategy for the endeavour until 2020 and a raft of relevant legal documents to be fine-tuned.
Legal regulations against corruption have been continually disseminated to the public while State organisations are working in a more open and transparent fashion, he said.
Wong Hong Kuan said Singapore has been among the top 10 least corrupt countries since 2011, mainly based on a set of appropriate laws, an independent judicial system, competent law enforcement agencies and a responsible public administration.
Political determination of the Singaporean government and transparency in law enforcement has drawn more foreign investors to Singapore, he added.
Both sides expressed their satisfaction with the nations’ effective bilateral coordination, including regular liaisons at regional and global forums.-VNA
