Vietnam stands fourth in ASEAN in electricity access index

Vietnam still comes fourth in ASEAN and 27th among 190 countries and economies in electricity access index, according to the Doing Business 2020 report recently announced by the World Bank.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam still comes fourth inASEAN and 27th among 190 countries and economies in electricity access index, accordingto the Doing Business 2020 report recently announced by the World Bank.

The overall index improved for the sixth consecutive yearwith 88.2 point, up 0.26 point from 2018, measuring procedures, time and costof national grid connection, power supply reliability, and transparency in powerprices.

Vietnam is also among the top four member countries of the Comprehensiveand Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) in terms ofelectricity access.

In order to score high in the index, the Vietnam Electricity(EVN) has conducted digital transformation measures to improve customerservices, including providing services registration, contract signing andpayment online while improving transparency of procedures and regulations viaits customer care website, round-the-clock hotline, and mobile application.

This year, the EVN launched all services on electronic platform and upgradedinformation technology infrastructure.

In September 2019, it piloted electricity bill payment onnational public services portal, which will become official nationwide inNovember.

The EVN also offered its services on all online publicservice websites and public administration centres in all cities and provinces./.
