Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam attaches importance to defence cooperation with Thailand, and the Ministry of Defence will create favourable conditions for Thai military attachés to fulfil their duties in Vietnam, said a Vietnamese senior officer.
Deputy Defence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Chi Vinh made the remark during his reception in Hanoi on October 3 for Thailand’s out-going Defence and Army, Navy, and Air Force attachés in Vietnam and their newly-appointed replacements.
The host affirmed Vietnam appreciates the active contributions that the attachés have made to enhance links between the two armies, thus further strengthening the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
He asked the newly-appointed attachés to work closely with the Vietnamese ministry’s agencies in stepping up the defence cooperation between the two nations.
On behalf of the guests, Defence and Army Atta ché Colonel Nakarn Kladsawat affirmed the bilateral defence ties have helped enhance mutual understanding between Vietnam and Thailand.
He took the occasion to thank the Vietnamese ministry for its support of Thai attachés during their terms in Vietnam.-VNA
