Vietnam has won a contract to sell 800,000 tonnes of rice to thePhilippines , the Vietnam Food Association said on April 15.
The rice will be shipped to the country, which was hit severely by super-typhoon Haiyan last November, from May to August.
The association predicts that with this contract, the price of thegrain in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam ’s largest granary, will increasesignificantly.
By April 13, Vietnamese businesseshad won contracts for 2.7 million tonnes of rice, of which 1.4 milliontonnes had been exported.-VNA
