Beijing (VNA) - A Vietnam–China youth presentation themed “Inheriting the Red Gene” took place on February 10 in Nanning, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China, with the participation of 150 young people from Vietnam’s localities of Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang and Cao Bang, and China’s Guangxi.
The event enabled youth from both countries to exchange views, deepen awareness of their responsibility to uphold revolutionary traditions, and propose initiatives to make youth cooperation more substantive and aligned with the development needs of each locality and country in the new period.
Wang Weiping, Deputy Secretary of the Guangxi Regional Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Guangxi People’s Congress, highlighted the close neighbourliness and long-standing friendship between China and Vietnam.
He noted that cooperation between Guangxi and Vietnam has grown strongly, especially in trade, infrastructure connectivity and people-to-people exchanges, with bilateral trade exceeding 300 billion RMB (43 billion USD) in 2025.
As both countries advance towards modernisation goals, he stressed the dynamic and creative role of youth and encouraged their active participation in bilateral cooperation across multiple fields, he said.
Xu Xiao, Standing Secretary of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, recalled the close revolutionary solidarity between the two countries, describing their relationship as “both comrades and brothers”. He urged young people to inherit this tradition, shoulder the mission of the times, and act as a driving force in national modernisation, while strengthening cooperation to contribute positively to regional and global peace and development.
Representing the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Unions of the five Vietnamese localities, Secretary of the Cao Bang youth union Nguyen Thi Huong Nhung said both the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of China consistently view youth as a major social force and a reliable successor generation. She underlined that inheriting the “red gene” means not only preserving historical values but also translating them into practical actions suited to new development conditions through creativity, knowledge and dedication.
She noted that youth exchanges between Vietnam and China, particularly between the five Vietnamese localities and Guangxi, have been steadily strengthened, serving as an important channel for enhancing mutual understanding and trust. She expressed confidence that the event would further enrich the revolutionary traditions nurtured by previous generations.
On the same day, a project connectivity workshop between the youth organisations of the five Vietnamese localities and Guangxi was held, along with a thematic report on General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and Chinese President Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on youth work./.
