Hanoi (VNA) - Party General Secretary To Lam on February 10 met with members of the subcommittees preparing for the 14th National Party Congress and the Steering Committee tasked with reviewing theoretical and practical issues related to Vietnam's four-decade-long socialist-oriented Doi Moi (renewal) process.

The meeting took place on the occasion of the 96th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 – 2026), in celebration of the success of the 14th National Party Congress and on the threshold of the Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival 2026.

Party General Secretary To Lam said preparations for the 14th National Party Congress had been carried out in the context of complex global developments, rising national development requirements and the need to deploy difficult and sensitive tasks, especially streamlining the political system, reorganising administrative units and operating a two-tier local administration system.

He noted that the process had also been marked by the passing of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, which placed high demands on unity, resolve, and political responsibility to ensure the successful organisation of the Congress.

The Party leader affirmed that the success of the Congress was the result of unity, consensus and tremendous efforts by the entire Party, people and armed forces, with particularly important contributions from the subcommittees and the Steering Committee. He stressed that the outcome reflected a rigorous, scientific and sustained intellectual effort, a strong sense of responsibility, and quiet dedication in overcoming intense time pressure, heavy workloads and exacting quality requirements.

According to him, a key innovation in preparing the Congress documents was the integration of three major reports and an action programme into a unified report, making them more concise and coherent while reflecting an action-oriented approach. Despite a tight timeline, the subcommittees worked with strong coordination and high responsibility, while personnel preparations were carried out rigorously, impartially and in line with Party principles, resulting in one-round elections with high consensus.

Organisational and logistical arrangements were also conducted thoroughly and professionally, with notable innovations, reflecting the discipline and dedication of supporting staff whose quiet contributions helped ensure the success of the Congress.

The Party General Secretary stressed that immediately after the Congress, efforts to finalise the documents were carried out actively and with urgency, with feedback from the Congress incorporated and the documents officially released at the national conference on implementation by February 7, 2026 - nearly one month earlier than in the previous term. This, he said, demonstrated the outstanding performance of the subcommittees, the Steering Committee and advisory bodies, highlighting the role of the Party’s strategic advisory cadres.

He praised their strong sense of responsibility, rigorous and scientific working methods, open-mindedness and close coordination, noting that despite differing views and debates, all ultimately converged on a shared principle: placing the interests of the Party, the nation and the people above all else to achieve the highest consensus and best preparation for the Congress.

He said the 14th National Party Congress marks a pivotal turning point in the country’s development, ushering in a new phase of action with higher aspirations and requirements. With documents in place and goals clearly defined, the key task now is to turn the Congress’s spirit into concrete actions, tangible outcomes and meaningful changes nationwide.

He urged the subcommittees’ members, in their respective roles, to continue pooling their expertise, experience and commitment to help translate the Congress’s Resolution into practice, while actively contributing to the review of 40 years of implementing the Party Platform, and the review of the 40-year implementation of the Platform for National Construction during the transitional period to socialism; and a comprehensive review of a century of the Party leadership of the Vietnamese revolution. These reviews, he noted, are intended to enrich theoretical and practical insights and to shape a long-term, strategic and more ambitious development vision for the next 100 years.

The Party chief asked the Party Central Committee’s Office to give advice on a comprehensive review of the preparation and organisation of the 14th National Party Congress, draw valuable lessons for the next term, and duly commend and reward outstanding collectives and individuals. He also called for close coordination with the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Commission and relevant agencies to fully implement policies and entitlements for members of the subcommittees and the Steering Committee in accordance with regulations.

He took the occasion to extend his best wishes for health, happiness and success to all members and their families in the Lunar New Year, urging them to continue upholding their spirit of dedication, sustaining their enthusiasm and maintaining firm confidence in the path chosen by the Party, President Ho Chi Minh and the people./.
