- Party General Secretary To Lam chaired a meeting in Ho Chi Minh City on February 9 with former members of the Party Central Committee from southern provinces and cities who were unable to attend a similar gathering held previously in Hanoi due to personal circumstances.
The meeting was held on the occasion of the 96th founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and in celebration of the Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival. Read full story
- Ho Chi Minh City must continue to affirm its pioneering role and act as a driving force for national growth, innovation and integration, required Party General Secretary To Lam while paying a Tet (Lunar New Year) visit to the city’s Party organisation, administration and people on February 9.
Addressing the event, connected online to 168 wards and communes across the city, General Secretary Lam expressed his pleasure at visiting and extending Tet greetings to Ho Chi Minh City – the city named after beloved President Ho Chi Minh, describing it as the country’s leading hub for economy, culture, science – technology, innovation and international integration, and a locality of special strategic importance. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on February 9 chaired a ceremony to launch two key emulation movements aimed at swiftly translating the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress into practice, focusing on innovation, science and technology development, digital transformation and green tratransition; and strong development of private enterprises alongside improving efficiency of state-owned enterprises.
In his remarks, the PM underlined the particular significance of the event, helping to generate strong momentum for action from the beginning of the year and contributing to the realisation of the strategic decisions of the 14th National Party Congress, thereby ushering in a new era of national development. - The national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines announced on February 9 that it will launch a nonstop service between Hanoi and Amsterdam of the Netherlands from June 2026, marking Vietnam’s first direct air route to the European nation.
The new service will raise the number of direct routes between Vietnam and Europe to 12, connecting with eight destinations, including Paris, Frankfurt, London, Munich, Milan, Copenhagen, Moscow, and Amsterdam. Read full story
- Nearly 24,200 new businesses were established nationwide in January, surging 40.9% from December and 126.8% year on year, according to the National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance.
More than 24,500 businesses resumed operations during the month, up 146.2% month on month and 7.6% year on year, bringing the total number of newly established and reactivated firms to 48,700, a year-on-year increase of 45.6%, the office said. Read full story

- The Bhumjaithai Party is on track to win the most seats in Thailand’s general election, according to preliminary results released by the Election Commission of Thailand on February 9.
