- Within the framework of his state visit to Cambodia, Party General Secretary To Lam laid wreaths at the Independence Monument, the Memorial to late King Norodom Sihanouk, and the Cambodia–Vietnam Friendship Monument in Phnom Penh on February 6.

- Party General Secretary To Lam met with Samdech Techo Hun Sen in Phnom Penh on February 6, following the official welcome ceremony for the Vietnamese leader at the Royal Palace earlier the same day.

At the meeting, Samdech Techo Hun Sen warmly welcomed General Secretary Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation on their state visit to Cambodia, which takes place shortly after the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV). He stressed that the visit underscored the importance the CPV and Vietnamese leaders attach to the good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability between the two countries. - The state visit to Cambodia on February 6 by General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam is expected to usher in a new phase of broader and more closely knit cooperation between the two countries.

According to the Department of Foreign Market Development under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, bilateral trade has continued to record positive growth in recent years, reaffirming its role as one of the key pillars of bilateral cooperation, particularly amid ongoing volatility in the global and regional economy. - Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives Mazen Turki El Qadi departed Hanoi on February 6 morning, concluding his official visit to Vietnam from February 2–5 at the invitation of National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man.

During the visit, Speaker Mazen Turki El Qadi and his delegation paid their respects to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum and laid a wreath at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son street in Hanoi. Read full story

- Vietnam has positioned the digital economy as a key engine for its economic growth, targeting a 30% GDP contribution by 2030 through comprehensive breakthroughs in institutions, digital infrastructure and skilled human resources, while shifting toward higher value-added, technology-driven development led by domestic enterprises.

- The Vietnam Stock Exchange (VNX) met with global index provider FTSE Russell on February 5 to take stock of ongoing cooperation and discuss next steps to support the sustainable development and upgrading of Vietnam’s stock market.

During the working session, the two sides shared updates on the performance of Vietnam’s stock market in 2025, focusing on market capitalisation, index trends, developments in the equities, bond and derivatives segments, and the continued expansion of the investor base. - Vietnam’s consumer price index (CPI) in January rose slightly by 0.05% compared with the previous month, mainly driven by stronger consumption demand during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, the National Statistics Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Finance announced on February 6.

According to the NSO, higher pork prices due to increased Tet demand, rising prices of dining-out services, and higher costs of housing maintenance materials linked to year-end home renovations were the main contributors to the increase. Compared with the same period last year, January’s CPI rose 2.53%, while core inflation expanded 3.19%. Read full story

- Foreign direct investment (FDI) into Vietnam is poised to stay strong in 2026, with early inflows signaling the country’s enduring appeal as multinationals reshape global supply chains.

In early February, authorities in northern Bac Ninh province bestowed approvals and registration certificates for a batch of projects surpassing 1.03 billion USD. Read full story

- Total newly registered foreign investment in Vietnam reached 2.58 billion USD as of January 31, down 40.6% year on year, the National Statistics Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Finance announced on February 6.

- To express gratitude to the community and stimulate tourism following the official inscription of the Yen Tu Relics and Landscape Complex as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site, the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Council on February 5 passed a resolution granting free admission to the complex from 2026 through the end of 2028.

The move is seen as a meaningful gesture of appreciation by the northern province toward residents, monks, Buddhists and visitors whose contributions have played an important role in protecting, preserving and building the successful World Heritage dossier./. Read full story

The election is unfolding as Vietnam presses ahead with sweeping administrative reforms, including efforts to streamline the state apparatus and implement a two-tier local government model from the central level to grassroots authorities. Amendments to key laws are also aimed at strengthening decentralisation, improving the management of public assets and accelerating digital transformation, enabling citizens to access information more easily while fostering a leaner, more transparent governance system that better upholds people’s rights.

Truong Sa voters cast early ballots for NA, local council elections

Voters at 20 out of the 22 polling stations in Truong Sa (Spratly) special zone in the central province of Khanh Hoa cast their ballots on March 8 in early voting for deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term, one week ahead of the nationwide election day on March 15.

National Assembly (NA) Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong on March 7 led a working delegation to meet with the Election Committee of An Giang to inspect and supervise preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th legislature and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 tenure.

Bru–Van Kieu community in Quang Tri gear up for early voting

According to the provincial Election Committee, three polling stations in Truong Son commune – located in Hoi Ray, Nuoc Dang and Doc May villages – will organise voting on March 8, seven days before the nationwide election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 tenure, to make it easier for residents in remote areas where travel remains difficult to cast their ballots.

2026 inspection-supervision decision for NA Party Committee's Standing Board announced

The NA Party Committee is ready to cooperate closely, promptly provide relevant documents and materials, and work in accordance with the delegation’s requests. During the inspection and supervision process, its Standing Board hopes members of the inspection delegation will offer frank comments and clearly point out both its achievements and shortcomings.
