Vice State President inspects election preparations in Dong Nai

Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan praised Dong Nai for its serious, proactive and law-compliant preparations, stressing that the province should continue to regard the election as a top political task, strictly implementing procedures in line with the law and schedule, thoroughly reviewing candidate dossiers, ensuring proper structure and representation, and safeguarding citizens’ voting rights, including those of migrant workers, the elderly and persons with disabilities.

Dong Nai (VNA) – Vice State President Vo Thi Anh Xuan, who is also Vice Chairwoman of the National Election Council, on February 6 conducted an on-site inspection and held a working session with the Election Committee of Dong Nai province on preparations for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and the People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.

Xuan praised Dong Nai for its serious, proactive and law-compliant preparations, stressing that the province should continue to regard the election as a top political task, strictly implementing procedures in line with the law and schedule, thoroughly reviewing candidate dossiers, ensuring proper structure and representation, and safeguarding citizens’ voting rights, including those of migrant workers, the elderly and persons with disabilities.

The Vice President also emphasised the need to ensure adequate facilities, timely funding, targeted communication suitable for different voter groups, especially workers in industrial zones, and robust measures to maintain political security and social order.

Earlier the same day, Vice President Xuan inspected Polling Station No. 32 in Tran Bien ward, offering guidance and encouragement to ensure thorough preparations and smooth election procedures.

Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial Election Committee, reported that the province has established a 37-member provincial Election Committee and 95 election committees at the commune and ward levels, with a total of 2,127 polling teams, 56 of them from the armed forces. Dong Nai has six constituencies for the 16th National Assembly with 18 deputies; 28 constituencies for the provincial People’s Council; and 651 others for commune-level People’s Councils.

Following the first round of consultations, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai held the second consultation conference on February 2, 2026, to draw up a preliminary list of candidates for the 16th National Assembly and the provincial People’s Council.

After the second consultation, the preliminary list includes 24 candidates for the legislature, with women accounting for 54%, candidates under 40 making up 33%, and ethnic minority candidates 20%. For the provincial People’s Council election, the preliminary list comprises 150 candidates for 85 seats, with women accounting for 43% and under-40 candidates 26%./.
