Vietnam highlights commitment to deepening ties with Mongolia

Bilateral ties between Vietnam and Mongolia have been consolidated and expanded across multiple sectors in recent years.

Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam places consistent importance on strengthening relations with its traditional friends, including Mongolia, and stands ready to work closely with the Mongolian Government and people to further advance the bilateral comprehensive partnership in a practical, effective and long-term manner, Permanent Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu has said.

Addressing a reception hosted by the Mongolian Embassy on February 5 to mark Tsagaan Sar (the White Month), Mongolia’s traditional Lunar New Year, Vu extended New Year greetings on behalf of the Vietnamese Government and people to their Mongolian counterparts. He highlighted the enduring friendship between the two countries, noting that bilateral ties have been consolidated and expanded across multiple sectors in recent years.

Vietnam and Mongolia officially elevated their relations to a comprehensive partnership during the state visit to Mongolia by Party General Secretary and State President To Lam in September 2024, creating a firm foundation for bilateral cooperation to enter a new stage of development.

Mongolian Ambassador to Vietnam Jigjee Sereejav welcomed the positive trajectory of the partnership, reaffirming that Mongolia attaches great importance to and seeks to further deepen effective, wide-ranging and long-term cooperation with Vietnam, its leading partner in Southeast Asia.

The ambassador also congratulated Vietnam on the successful 14th National Party Congress, which outlined key goals and strategic orientations for the country’s next development phase. He expressed confidence that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam headed by Party General Secretary To Lam, the Vietnamese people will continue to reap significant new achievements in implementing the Congress’s Resolution./.

This is among the first overseas visits by the Vietnamese leader after General Secretary Lam was re-elected as Party chief at the recent National Party Congress. This not only reflects the strategic importance Vietnam attaches to relations with Cambodia, but also underscores the high level of mutual respect and appreciation both countries place on their deep and close bilateral ties.

Party chief meets President of Lao Front for National Development

The VFF and the LFNC need to work closely together to celebrate major holidays and important events of each country, especially in 2027 - the Year of Vietnam - Laos Friendship, which will feature milestones of profound significance, such as the 65th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam - Laos Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.
