Ninh Binh (VNA) – Vice Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Khac Dinh on February 27 called on the northern province of Ninh Binh to devote maximum efforts to preparations for the upcoming election of deputies to the 16th NA and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.
Leading a supervision and inspection delegation of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the National Election Council, he worked with the provincial Election Committee to review preparations.
Nguyen Anh Chuc, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and Vice Chairman of the provincial Election Committee, said Ninh Binh has so far completed comprehensive preparations to ensure that the election is conducted in a democratic, lawful, safe and cost-effective manner.
The province has established an election committee at the provincial level comprising 37 members and 129 commune-level committees with a total of 2,128 members. Across the province, 2,536 polling stations have been set up, including 18 separate polling areas, along with 2,536 election teams. There are eight election constituencies for NA deputies, 22 for provincial People’s Council deputies and 833 for commune-level People’s Council deputies.
With a population of more than 4.3 million, Ninh Binh has 3,150,931 registered voters. All 129 communes and wards have completed the posting of voter lists at People’s Committee offices and designated public venues. Consultative conferences and voter opinion collection at places of residence and work have been conducted in accordance with legal procedures.
NA Vice Chairman Dinh commended the province for its proactive, comprehensive and law-abiding preparations, noting that approximately two-thirds of required tasks have already been completed, some ahead of schedule.
He stressed that the remaining period before the election day is critical and decisive, particularly in the context of implementing a two-tier local administration model. He urged the province to concentrate resources, closely oversee every stage of the electoral process, mobilise experienced grassroots officials, intensify training, strengthen supervision and documentation, and develop response scenarios for unforeseen situations.
The synchronised application of information technology and digital transformation, in terms of software, equipment and personnel, was also emphasised.
In addition, he called for firm guarantees of political security and social order, proactive monitoring of local developments and enhanced public communication and voter mobilisation.
The same day, the delegation conducted on-site inspections at polling stations in Nam Hoa Lu and Hoa Lu wards./.
