- Party General Secretary To Lam on February 26 visited and extended Lunar New Year (Tet) greetings to the Ministry of Public Security’s Investigation Security Agency (A09), a unit honoured with the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces.
Recognising and commending the achievements of the people’s public security forces in recent years, the Party leader noted that amid unpredictable global and regional fluctuations, the concerted and decisive engagement of all levels, sectors and the entire political system – including the force – under the leadership of the Party and State, together with the people’s support, has enabled the country to attain significant and historic accomplishments. - Vietnam always regards Belgium as an important partner within the EU, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed while receiving Belgian Ambassador to Vietnam Karl Van Den Bossche on February 26.
The PM spoke highly of the positive developments in Vietnam–Belgium relations in recent years, especially the highly successful state visit to Vietnam by the Belgian King and Queen in April 2025, as well as the effective and practical implementation of the Strategic Partnership in Agriculture framework. - National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man, who also serves as Chairman of the National Election Council, led a working delegation to inspect election preparations in the northern city of Hai Phong on February 26.
Highlighting Hai Phong’s role as one of Vietnam’s six centrally-run cities, the leader said the upcoming election of deputies to the 16th legislature and to People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term must be closely aligned with the need to safeguard political security and social order, and organised with a higher sense of responsibility, more rigorously and more comprehensively than in previous polls. - Sports cooperation is a vivid testament to the depth and substance of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and France, Vietnamese Ambassador Trinh Duc Hai said at a ceremony marking the first anniversary of the Francophone sports association AFS on February 25.
The ambassador congratulated France on successfully hosting the 2024 Summer Olympics and Summer Paralympics, describing them as milestones that have helped promote cooperation between management agencies, federations and athletes of the two countries. Read full story

- The Viettel Artificial Intelligence and Data Services Centre (Viettel AI) under the Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) announced on February 26 that it has, for the first time, been granted a utility patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

- The Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles and Textile Technologies 2026 (VIATT 2026) opened in Ho Chi Minh City on February 26.
Jointly organised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) and Germany’s Messe Frankfurt Group, the exhibition features nearly 1,000 booths from more than 450 companies representing 21 countries and territories. Read full story
- Australian newspaper The Age on February 25 published an article by travel writer Julie Miller highlighting a new and safer way to experience Hanoi’s famed Train Street – aboard the “Hanoi Five City Gates” tourist train.
Dubbed a “moving cultural space”, the 40-minute journey departs from Hanoi Railway Station, runs along Train Street and through busy intersections crowded with cars and motorbikes, crosses the Red River via historic Long Bien Bridge, and arrives at Tu Son Station in neighbouring Bac Ninh province.
