- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam on February 23 sent a congratulatory message to General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Kim Jong Un on his re-election as the WPK chief at the ninth party congress.

In his message, the Vietnamese Party chief congratulated Kim on his re-election and expressed his belief that under the leadership of General Secretary Kim, the WPK and the fraternal Korean people will continue to obtain great achievements in their national construction cause. Read full story

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called for drastic efforts to promptly translate the culture-related contents of the 14th National Party Congress's Resolution and the Politburo’s Resolution No.80-NQ/TW on developing Vietnamese culture into concrete and effective actions.

Addressing a working session with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on February 23, he requested the ministry to swiftly carry out an action plan for implementing Resolution 80, along with the national target programme on culture and a scheme for developing cultural and entertainment industries. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hosted a Lunar New Year (Tet) reception for outstanding intellectuals, artists, journalists, athletes, coaches and representatives of cultural and tourism enterprises in Hanoi on February 23.

- The State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV) must bring into full play its professional expertise and effectively tap information from multiple sources to proactively advise the Party and State, instead of merely organising audit delegations, National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man has said.

- National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man visited and extended Lunar New Year (Tet) greetings to the NA Committee for Legal and Judicial Affairs, the Committee for Economic and Financial Affairs, and the NA Office on February 23, the first working day after the nine-day Tet holiday.

At a working session with the Committee for Legal and Judicial Affairs, the top legislator praised its contributions to the NA’s achievements in law-building, supreme supervision and decision making on important national issues last year. Read full story

- During the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday from February 14–22, Phu Quoc International Airport handled 767 flights and more than 260,473 passengers, marking its strongest Tet growth since becoming operational in 2012.

The airport recorded 767 flights (1,534 take-offs and landings), including 371 domestic and 396 international services, up 46% year-on-year. Read full story

- The Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien urban railway line 1 in Ho Chi Minh City carried more than 570,000 passenger trips during the seven peak days of the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, exceeding the target by 42%.

From February 16 - 22, the metro operated 1,801 trips, hitting 100% of the scheduled timetable and registering a 39% annual hike in services. Total ridership reached 571,528 passengers, equivalent to 94.4% of the line’s annual passenger volume./. Read full story

PM calls for rapid actions to implement Party directions on culture

The PM called for greater attention to grassroots cultural, sports and tourism development, alongside digital and green transformation in tourism, while fostering internal unity, creativity and a people-centred approach and creating favourable conditions for tourism enterprises to innovate and grow.

NA leader sets key priorities for committees, office in 2026

Stressing the need to raise the sense of responsibility in law drafting among ministries and sectors and in bill verification among NA agencies, Chairman Man demanded stronger supervision of the enforcement of laws, decrees and circulars in 2026, warning that poor performance would undermine the longevity of legislation.

Top legislator calls for unity to strengthen legislature’s role

Shortly before the Lunar New Year holiday, NA Chairman Tran Thanh Man, in his capacity as the head of the council, signed a resolution announcing the official list of candidates for deputies to the 16th NA by constituency nationwide. At polling stations, the official lists of candidates for both the NA and People’s Councils have been publicly posted.

Prime Minister: Lunar New Year 2026 safe, joyful across sectors

The PM hihglighted the comprehensive and positive outcomes across all aspects of serving the public throughout the Lunar New Year holiday, saying that that people across the country enjoyed a joyful, warm, safe and healthy Tet, imbued with a strong sense of solidarity, in line with directives from the Secretariat and the Government.
