- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on February 12 underscored the importance of accelerating the development of power sources, including nuclear energy, while chairing the fifth meeting of the Steering Committee for Nuclear Power Plant Construction.

PM Chinh, who is head of the steering committee, stressed that ensuring national energy security is an urgent requirement and a key foundation for economic development, alongside the need for energy transition in a green, clean and environmentally friendly manner. Read full story

- Vietnam attaches great importance to strengthening its Comprehensive Partnership with Canada, Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung said, noting that Canada’s active engagement with the world and the Asia-Pacific, together with shared strategic interests, offers a solid foundation for expanding cooperation, addressing common challenges and lifting bilateral relations to a higher level.

- Hundreds of enterprises and leading brands in textiles and garments, accessories and materials, machinery, and advanced technologies are set to gather at the Vietnam International Trade Fair for Apparel, Textiles and Textile Technologies (VIATT 2026), scheduled for February 26–28, in Ho Chi Minh City.

Organised by the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with Germany’s Messe Frankfurt Group, the fair will feature a wide range of textile products such as yarn, fabrics, garments, accessories, trimmings, as well as technologies and services for the textile industry. - The Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) on February 12 officially opened registration for two major talent programmes for 2026 – Viettel Digital Talent and Viettel Future Changemakers – aimed at seeking, training and developing young professionals for strategic technology fields and enhancing national competitiveness.

- Hanoi Railways Company Limited will grant free single-ride tickets to passengers using the Hanoi Metro app or purchasing directly at ticket counters from February 14–22 (the 27th day of the last lunar month to the 6th day of the first lunar month), to meet rising travel demand during the Lunar New Year (Tet) Holiday.

The company described the policy as an early spring gift to residents and visitors, aimed at promoting public transport use, reducing traffic congestion, and providing safe, convenient and environmentally friendly journeys. Read full story

- The People’s Council of Da Nang city has adopted a resolution outlining policies to support fisheries development for the 2026–2030 period, as part of efforts to have the European Commission’s “yellow card” warning related to illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing lifted.

- Lien Khuong International Airport in Duc Trong commune in the central province of Lam Dong will be temporarily closed from March 4 to August 25, 2026, to facilitate runway and taxiway repair works.

The Ministry of Construction announced the suspension on February 12, stating that the airport will halt operations from 00:00 on March 4 to 23:59 on August 25 to allow construction under a project to repair and upgrade its airside infrastructure. Read full story
