- National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man on February 12 visited and extended New Year greetings to former Politburo members and former State Presidents Nguyen Minh Triet and Truong Tan Sang, former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, former permanent member of the Secretariat General Le Hong Anh.
On behalf of the NA Standing Committee, the top legislator expressed deep appreciation for the significant contributions made by the former leaders to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the State, as well as to the national construction and development during the Doi Moi (Renewal) period. - Vietnamese Ambassador to Greece Pham Thi Thu Huong attended the opening ceremony of the 22nd National Congress of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) in Athens, chaired by KKE Central Committee General Secretary Dimitris Koutsoumbas.
In his opening address, Koutsoumbas reviewed more than a century of the party’s formation and development, highlighting recent achievements while assessing the domestic political situation and the international context, and outlining key tasks and objectives for the coming term. Read full story
- Looking back at the achievements of 2025, Vietnam’s tourism sector clearly entered a new phase of development, with digital transformation no longer a trend but a powerful growth engine permeating every stage of the traveller journey.
According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT), which cited the Google–Temasek–Bain & Company e-Conomy SEA 2025 report, tourism remains one of the key drivers of Vietnam’s economy. - UNESCO and the Japanese Government on February 12 signed an agreement to launch a project aimed at strengthening Vietnam’s capabilities in early warning, disaster risk mitigation and ensuring safe learning environment.
The project, funded at 533,333 USD, will run from March 2026 to March 2027 and target the central province of Nghe An, which is prone to frequent natural disasters, home to the UNESCO-recognised Western Nghe An Biosphere Reserve and former Vinh city, a member of UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities. - Vietnam Register will begin issuing electronic inspection certificates for cars from March 1, incorporating QR codes and emissions ratings. The move is intended to curb forgery and reduce administrative costs.
In a document submitted to the Ministry of Construction, the agency confirmed that it has completed investment in software and IT infrastructure to officially roll out electronic certificates for technical safety and environmental protection inspections covering motor vehicles and specialised motorbikes. - Noi Bai International Airport and Tan Son Nhat International Airport are expected to handle record passenger volumes during the Tet (the Lunar New Year - the Year of the Horse), according to airport authorities.
Information from Noi Bai International Airport showed that during the peak Tet period, passenger traffic is forecast to reach a record high, posting double-digit growth year on year. Specifically, in the seven days before Tet (February 10–16), Noi Bai is expected to serve more than 725,000 passengers, up 16% from the same period in 2025, with 4,467 flights, an increase of 12.5%.
