Quang Tri (VNA) – In the lead-up to the elections of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term, an active and widespread atmosphere of preparation is speading across coastal communes and wards in the central province of Quang Tri.

Local authorities have intensified information and communication efforts, ensuring that election-related information reaches all segments of the population, with particular attention to fishermen who spend long periods at sea.

At fishing ports and coastal communities, fishermen returning from offshore trips have been provided with clear and timely information on the election schedule, polling locations and voting procedures. Thanks to regular outreach by local administrations and mass organisations, many fishermen have become well aware of the significance of the elections and are proactively arranging their fishing schedules to return in time to cast their ballots, thereby fulfilling their civic rights and responsibilities.

Nguyen Van Deng, Secretary of the Party cell of Thanh Giang village, Bac Trach commune, said that grassroots Party committees and local authorities have worked closely with vessel owners, captains and fishing households to facilitate ballot casting.

For voters frequently operating far from shore, localities have coordinated with border guard forces and families to provide timely updates through multiple communication channels, including telephone and online platforms. These efforts aim to ensure that fishermen are fully informed and able to plan their activities accordingly.

According to provincial authorities, Quang Tri has carried out election preparations in a proactive and coordinated manner in line with centrally prescribed timelines. The province has completed the establishment of election committees, election boards and polling teams at all levels, and has designated constituencies and polling stations across the province. Candidate nomination procedures have been conducted in accordance with regulations, with the overall structure and composition meeting required criteria.

With flexible, practical and inclusive preparations, Quang Tri is striving to ensure that all eligible voters, including those in coastal fishing communities, are fully informed and able to participate in the upcoming elections, contributing to their orderly, lawful and successful conduct./.
