LimSong-hack, Director General of Pyeongtaek Regional Maritime Affairs andFisheries Office, said the newly-operational Pyeongtaek port handled arecord 100 tonnes of cargo last year and has the potential to become oneof the most dynamic and developed seaports in the RoK.
Since Vietnam and the RoK concluded negotiations on a free tradeagreement, the event enabled Vietnamese firms to obtain more informationon business in maritime transport and logistics.
The RoK is currently the largest investor in Vietnam with 4,140 projectsworth 37.7 billion USD. Trade soared nearly 55 times from 0.5 billionUSD in 1992 to 30 billion USD in late 2014, and is expected to hit 70billion USD by 2020, said Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber ofCommerce and Industry (VCCI) Doan Duy Khuong.
Khuong said there remains significant room for mutual growth in diversefields, but especially in transport and logistics.
The workshop was co-hosted by the VCCI, the Vietnam MaritimeAdministration, and the Pyeongtaek Regional Maritime Affairs andFisheries Office.-VNA
