Vietnamese, Japanese firms partner up to produce Wagyu beef

LongAn (VNA) – A deal to produce Wagyu beef under Japan’s technologywas signed between the Huy Long An company of the Mekong Delta province of LongAn and the Sawai Ranch of Japan on December 17.

Thisis the first time that Vietnamese and Japanese firms have worked together to raisethe Japanese cow species. Accordingly, the cattle will be raised in Huy LongAn’s farms in accordance with a strict process under the supervision of Japaneseexperts, ensuring that the beef quality will meet criteria of Japan’s market.

VoQuang Huy, Director of the Huy Long An said the company owns one of the largestclosed breeding facilities across the country with a capacity to raise about30,000 cows simultaneously. The company has the policy to seek reliable businesspartners and advanced breeding technologies to produce high quality and safe beef.

Thebeef is intended for both the domestic market and export to Japan. Each qualifiedWagyu cow could be valued at about 40,000 USD.

Atthe signing ceremony, Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture andRural Development Le Van Hoang stated that the province has launched a projectto develop agriculture with high technology, including hi-tech cow-breeding.-VNA
