A delegation of the National Assembly’s Committee for National Defence and Security, led by its Chairman Le Quang Binh, is on a working visit to China from April 24 to May 3.

The Vietnamese lawmakers were received on April 27 by Vice Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People’s Congress (NPC) Yan Junqi.

Yan said the two legislatures need to boost cooperation in a more effective and practical manner, thereby elevating relations between the two Parties and States to a new height.

The Chinese official expressed her belief that the delegation’s ongoing visit will continue to realise measures aimed at developing the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, especially in security and national defence.

She took this occasion to thank Vietnam for its support, both materially and spiritually, for earthquake victims in northwest China ’s Qinghai province.

Binh, who is also a member of the NA Standing Committee, told his host that Vietnam always attaches importance to expanding its relationship with China , a relationship which was founded by late Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong and has been nurtured by generations of leaders of both nations.

As neighbours, Vietnam and China share various similarities and both are currently undertaking a renewal process, Binh said, adding that they can learn from each other’s experiences.

Earlier, the Vietnamese delegation held talks with the NPC’s Committee for Foreign Affairs and met with Deputy Foreign Minister Zhang Zhijun and Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Sun Jianguo.

The legislators – guests of the NPC’s Committee for Foreign Affairs – are scheduled to pay calls at Shanghai , Guilin , Liuzhou and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region./.
