Vietnamese naval ship attends LIMA 2019 in Malaysia

Hanoi (VNA) - Naval ship HQ 012-Ly Thai To ofBrigade 162 of the Naval Region 4 on March 25 arrived in Langkawi port ofMalaysia to attend the 2019 Langkawi International Maritime and AerospaceExhibition (LIMA 2019) on March 26-30. 

Immediately after anchoring in Porto Malai area,the Vietnamese delegation, led by Colonel Nguyen Cong Son, Deputy Political Commissarof the Naval Region 4, urgently prepared contents for their activities in theframework of LIMA 2019.

In the same day’s afternoon, they listened to contents related to thecoordination of maritime activities at the Maritime Coordination Centre (MCC) inc.

The delegation are planned to attend the opening ceremony of LIMA 2019 on March26 at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC) and the rehearsal of ship parade in Porto Malai area.

LIMA 2019 has attracted 40 naval ships from ASEAN membernations and other countries, including a submarine of Malaysia.  

The LIMA is the largest show of its kind within the AsiaPacific region. Held biennially since its debut in 1991, LIMA introducesapplications and technologies in military and civil affairs and trade withinthe maritime and aerospace industries.

The 14th edition of the event in 2017 lured 555exhibitors of 36 countries and territories, including Russia, France,Australia, the UK and the US.

After attending LIMA 2019, the Vietnamese ship willvisit Tanintharyi port in Mergui province of Myanmar during which they are scheduled to meet with the local authorities, theTanintharyi Region High Command and the Myanmar Navy. They will join a sportexchange programme with naval soldiers of the Taninyharyi Region HighCommand. 

During the visit, the HQ 012-Ly Thai To willcarry out its duties of long distance sea voyage training, sea patrol andrevisions to arms and equipment to improve command and combat readiness.-VNA
