Vietnamese President meets Lao leaders

President Sang met with Lao PM Thongsing Thammavong and Lao NA Chairwoman Pany Yathotu on Feb. 9.
President Truong Tan Sang met with Lao Prime Minister ThongsingThammavong and Lao National Assembly Chairwoman Pany Yathotu on Feb. 9,as part of his official visit to Laos .

The LaoPM appreciated the visit of the Vietnamese delegation, describing it asan important political event to further deepen the friendly relationsbetween Vietnam and Laos .

Thongsing Thammavongexpressed his hope that the two countries will cooperatecomprehensively in a range of areas and educate younger generationsabout the traditional friendship and bilateral cooperation betweenVietnam and Laos .

At the talks with the Lao NAChairwoman, President Sang said he believes that with the greatachievements and experiences gained through 25 years of renovation, theLao Party, State and people will successfully implement the 9th PartyCongress’ Resolution on socio-economic development to build asocialist nation of peace, democracy, unity and prosperity.

President Sang also attended the groundbreaking ceremony for theconstruction of the headquarters of the General Federation of theVietnamese people in Laos .

The two-storeybuilding with an area of 870 square metres will be a place of exchangefor the organisation’s 30,000 members.

PresidentSang also attended the opening of a branch for the Vietnam Joint StockBank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank) in Laos. /.
