Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and the Vietnamese delegation arrived inBandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei, on April 24 toattend the 22 nd ASEAN Summit.
Themed “Our people,Our future”, the summit will discuss several topics, includingASEAN’s 2013 priorities; accelerating ASEAN community formation andfuture orientation; as well as expanding the bloc’s external relationsand promoting ASEAN’s central role in the shaping of regional structure.
PM Dung and other ASEAN leaders will also exchangeviews on regional and international issues of common concern,particularly those that ensure peace, security and developmentcooperation in the region and East Sea issue, as well ascooperation in adapting to challenges such as environmental change,natural disasters, epidemics and other non-traditional securitychallenges.
As scheduled, PM Dung will hold meetingswith Brunei’s King who is the Chairman of the 22nd ASEAN Summitand Indonesian President on April 24 to boost bilateral cooperation anddiscuss the meeting’s focus.
The 10-memberAssociation of Southeast Asian Nations, known as ASEAN, comprisesBrunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.-VNA
